Summary

Fit for the Future Network is partnering with the Alliance for Sustainable Building Products to explore different approaches to retrofitting in a range of different buildings, and to think about the implications of embodied carbon.

Register your place here.

The RNLI have been conducting a trial at two almost identical lifeboat stations in the UK. Their aim has to been to find out whether retrofitting these buildings is the most efficient and economical way of keeping down the amount of carbon involved in this legacy stock – taking into account the embodied carbon of the building. Or would rebuilding the entire lifeboat station to a more energy efficient standard be the better carbon solution?

The RNLI will be presenting their results in an effort to shed some light on this question. There will also be presentations from experienced architect and proponent of retrofitting, Harry Paticas, on his work carrying out ‘deep retrofit’ on domestic and heritage properties. Marion Latch from Ealing Council will talking about their recent retrofitting project on 20 maisonettes across one street in Ealing, looking at both the the successes of the project and the lessons to take forward.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
