At our first virtual event of the Sustainability Strategy Series, Zach Lewis (National Specialist - Low Carbon Adviser at the National Trust) provided an overview and update on the National Trust’s strategy with regards to its approach to net zero.  Zach provided details on understanding baseline emissions, the strategy to reduce emissions, the National Trust Carbon Dashboard, and carbon removals/offsetting.

Following on from this popular session, Ruth Knight (Head of Climate & Sustainability, English Heritage) provided an overview of the recently published English Heritage Climate Action Plan (2022 – 2055) focusing in on strategy development and covering the challenges and opportunities of delivering against the core targets on people, decarbonisation, operations and resilience.

More recently, we welcomed UK Sport to share recently published UK Sport Environmental Sustainability Strategy.
The strategy includes a goal to have a net positive impact on the environment by 2040; this ambition builds on a goal of reducing the negative environmental impact of UK Sport’s own activities and operations, to achieve net zero by 2030.

We're happy to announce that the next event in the series will be on 10th October courtesy of The Postal Museum, who recently released their Environmental Sustainability Framework.

The framework sets out the museum’s strategy for environmental sustainability over the next 6 years, demonstrating a commitment to make meaningful changes to operations and making tracked progress towards Net Zero emissions by 2040.

Annie Duffield, Head of Marketing and Communications and Tish Jayanetti, Head of Operations and Commercial will provide an overview of how they developed their Framework and associated Action Plan, focusing on 4 areas of impact:

Place: changes to our operation, from our buildings to our digital outputs
People: how our staff and volunteers are supported and will work
Programme: how we communicate about our environmental responsibility
with staff, stakeholders and visitors
Process: how we understand and measure impact, remain accountable
and resource our progress.
