Our Special Interest Groups are an opportunity to share learning, progress, challenges and questions with other members across the network who are on the same journey.
Environmental Management Systems (EMS) whilst providing a systematic framework to manage the immediate and long-term environmental impacts of an organisation, do sometimes create uncertainty with implementation, monitoring and reporting. The EMS special interest group is for members who are involved in the development and delivery of an organisation’s EMS and would like to share and develop their knowledge of this topic.
As this will be the first meeting since 2019, the group will focus on recent challenges with implementing an EMS within Covid restrictions, including:
· Reviewing EMS in the past year – ‘emergency situation’
· Re-starting an EMS
· Compliance challenges e.g., ISO14001 Environmental Management virtual audits
The group will also discuss the future EMS relationship with other standards e.g. ISO 14090: Adaptation to climate change.
Kathryn Akers and Jamie MacDonald, National Trust (Climate and Environment Systems Managers) will start the discussion by providing an overview of their recent experiences (ambitions, progress, challenges, lessons learnt etc) with EMS.
Any member is welcome to attend, regardless of previous experience or knowledge on this topic.
