The challenges and opportunities of Electric Vehicles (EV) and associated infrastructure are significant.  Key drivers for change include the government phasing out of new petrol and diesel cars and vans by 2030 and the potential for organisations to reduce their Green House Gas emissions (and other air pollutants) from this often significant source.

Many Fit for the Future members are developing (or looking to develop) initiatives in this key area, focusing on their own fleet vehicles and/or provision of EV infrastructure for staff and visitors/customers.

At this virtual event we will hear from three Fit for the Future members.  Clare Frater (Project manager at the National Trust) will start the session by providing an overview of the Trust’s progress to date and it’s plans to further develop EV charging infrastructure and services for visitors through a 3 year programme. 

Lucy Smith (Head of Sustainability at the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust) and Martin Spencer (The Caravan and Motorhome Club) will then provide overviews on their ongoing experience with EV infrastructure installation, operation and future plans (progress, challenges and learnings). The Caravan and Motorhome Club will also update on focusing beyond cars, to camper vans and motorhomes.

David Roman (Sustainability Manager, British Heart Foundation) will also be joining us to provide an overview and update on the British Heart Foundation’s target of switching their entire company car fleet to electric by 2027.  This will include an update on the challenges and progress of phased car procurement and installing charging infrastructure (on-site and home chargers).

There will then be an opportunity to ask questions and join in a general discussion; for members to share their ambitions, plans, challenges, approaches, lessons learnt and/or progress in this key area.
