On Tuesday 3rd November the Fit for the Future network hosted an online screening of the People's Emergency Briefing.
Communities and organisations are using this free-to-screen film to brief the UK public about the climate and nature crisis. Screenings in village halls, cinemas, faith spaces and workplaces are bringing constituents, civic leaders and MPs together to hear the evidence - and consider what an emergency response should look like.
The Fit for the Future online screening was led by the National Emergency Briefing team, and was followed by a group conversation led by Donna Okell (Director for Business at the National Emergency Briefing) and Professor Mike Berners-Lee (Chair at the National Emergency Briefing, author and leading thinker on the systemic risks facing humanity).
There was strong call to action at the end of the session for each person to go away and build momentum, to:
· Spread the word (support others and/or host your own screening)
· Join others (to take action)
· Keep the pressure on the Government
· Call for televised emergency briefing
At this virtual discussion group on Wednesday 18th Nov, 10:00 - 11:00, we will review how we can best work together to support organisations and individuals in managing emotions and developing these next steps. To align new activity to that already happening within the network. To enable Fit for the members to support each other regarding well-being and developing action; to develop our capacity and influence to enable positive change.
We are delighted that Donna Okell (Director for Business at the National Emergency Briefing) and Professor Mike Berners-Lee (Chair at the National Emergency Briefing) will be joining us for this session.
