How this started…
Last November, ten of the UK’s leading experts briefed an invited audience of over 1,200 politicians and leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and the media. The briefing set out the implications of climate and nature breakdown for health, food systems, national security and the economy.
What's happening now…
Communities and organisations are using a free-to-screen 50-minute film, based on the Westminster event, to brief the UK public about the climate and nature crisis. Screenings in village halls, cinemas, faith spaces and workplaces are bringing constituents, civic leaders and MPs together to hear the evidence - and consider what an emergency response should look like.
Maybe your organisation is spread throughout the UK and it is difficult to get everyone together in-person and/or you do not have access to a venue. The Fit for the Future online screening will be led by the National Emergency Briefing team and will be open to you and all your colleagues. You can book your free place using the link above.
The screening will be followed by a 25-minute group conversation led by Donna Okell (Director for Business at the National Emergency Briefing) and Professor Mike Berners-Lee (Chair at the National Emergency Briefing, author and leading thinker on the systemic risks facing humanity). Focusing on:
Reflect: What stayed with you? What surprised, concerned or challenged you?
Relate: Where does this intersect with your organisation — people, places, purpose, operations, supply chains, customers, infrastructure, or costs.
Review: How well prepared are we? Where does climate and nature risk feature in our risk register, business continuity planning and longer-term strategy? What assumptions might need revisiting?
Respond: What should we do next? What is one question, conversation or action we will take back into our organisation — and where could collaboration help?
Once you have registered we will be in touch with you ahead of the screening to confirm joining instructions.
