How this started…
Last November, ten of the UK’s leading experts briefed an invited audience of over 1,200 politicians and leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and the media. The briefing set out the implications of climate and nature breakdown for health, food systems, national security and the economy.
What's happening now…
Communities and organisations are using a free-to-screen 50-minute film, based on the Westminster event, to brief the UK public about the climate and nature crisis. Screenings in village halls, cinemas, faith spaces and workplaces are bringing constituents, civic leaders and MPs together to hear the evidence - and consider what an emergency response should look like. You can find out more at www.nebriefing.org and view the trailer here.
Many Fit for the Future members have hosted or are planning a screening. However, maybe your organisation is spread throughout the UK and it is difficult to get everyone together in-person and/or you do not have access to a venue. Maybe you would like to view a screening to help inform if you would like to host your own session.
The Fit for the Future online screening will be led by the National Emergency Briefing team and will be open to you and all your colleagues. The screening will be followed by a 25-minute group conversation led by Donna Okell (Director for Business at the National Emergency Briefing) and Professor Mike Berners-Lee (Chair at the National Emergency Briefing, author and leading thinker on the systemic risks facing humanity). You can find out more here.
